Fried cabbage with bacon, onion, and tomatoes

Fried cabbage is the cornerstone of Polish cuisine. This is why, it is worth adding it to everything — including our bacon!

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of bacon in slices from Morliny
  • Half a white or Savoy cabbage
  • 1 onion
  • 2 fresh tomatoes
  • 2–3 cloves of garlic
  • A bay leaf
  • Parsley / a handful of dill
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Half a teaspoon of sweet powdered pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Cut the bacon into strips. Cut the cabbage in not too fine strips. Cut the tomatoes. Finely chop the onion and garlic. Put the bacon in the frying pan, fry until some of the fat is melted, and it starts to brown. Add the onion and garlic, and fry until the onion is soft.

Step 2

Add the cabbage and fry it for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add tomatoes, greens, and spices. Fry for another 10–15 minutes until the cabbage is soft.

Step 3

Finally, season it with salt and pepper.
