The story of the Italians who emigrated to the United States in the early 20th century has been told in films and books in hundreds of possible ways. However, Ślązerki Sausages have their own culinary interpretation of this theme. So how to bite into it? Preferably in a toasted American hot dog roll with Cheese-Tomato Ślązerki Sausage, i.e. stuffed with Italian-style additives. And if you don’t have enough cheese, you can always add more. Mamma mia!
Cut tomatoes into large cubes, put them in a bowl, season with olive oil and salt and pepper. Mix together. Then add a few basil leaves. Leave the remaining basil leaves to decorate the dish.
Now it is time to prepare the Ślązerki Sausages. Fire up the grill, place the Cheese-Tomato Ślązerki Sausages (without cutting) on the grate, and grill them for 4 minutes. If you want an extra portion of cheese, sprinkle the hot Ślązerki Sausages with grated mozzarella after taking them off the grill. After a while, the cheese will melt on them.
Slice the hot dog rolls lengthwise and spread them with a little olive oil on both sides. Put the rolls on the grill next to the Ślązerki Sausages. Keep them on the grill for about 2 minutes, until they are browned and crispy. After one minute, it’s a good idea to turn the rolls over to the other side.
Take the rolls off the grill and place a large leaf of lettuce and the previously cubed tomatoes on their lower halves.
Place a Ślązerki Sausage on the tomatoes, sprinkle everything with pepper and decorate with basil; you can also sprinkle with the remaining grated mozzarella. Add the tops of the rolls.
