Caramelised bacon with brown sugar

Something sweet for dessert? This recipe comes straight from Canada, so you have to try it politely!


  • 1 pack of bacon in slices from Morliny
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • Half a teaspoon of sweet pepper
  • Half a teaspoon of hot pepper (optional)
  • 1–2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey


  • 3 eggs
  • 3 egg whites
  • 100 ml of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) of butter
  • 1.5 cups of wheat flour


Step 1

Place the bacon on baking paper. Sprinkle with sugar, pepper, and sugar syrup.

Step 2

Put the bacon in the oven preheated to 180 °C (356 °F), and bake for 10–15 minutes until it all is caramelised and the bacon is crispy.


Dissolve the butter and pour it into a bowl. Add remaining dough ingredients and blend thoroughly. Set aside for 10 minutes and fry in a waffle iron on medium power until crispy.
